Drug & Alcohol Testing

Modern work environments require drug and alcohol policies. When safety is a critical issue in your workplace, CHROMIS will help you to develop policy and deliver programs of drug and alcohol testing. Drug and alcohol screening can be part of your worker's pre-employment assessment or routine medical examination.

We are available to conduct periodic, one off, or random D&A testing at your worksite. CHROMIS will interpret and discuss all test results with you. All drug and alcohol testing complies with Australian standards.

Medical Review Officer (MRO) Services

The Medical Review Officer (MRO) is a medical practitioner who has obtained an expert qualification in drug and alcohol testing and undertakes clinical interpretation of results (including from breath, urine, and oral fluid samples).  The MRO consults with industry, business, and government organisations in the prevention and control of drug abuse in the workplace.  Being primarily a medical practitioner, the MRO is aware of the ethical issues surrounding testing and works to protect both the rights of the employee being tested as well as of the referring organisation. 

The ramifications of workplace drug testing can be serious - to both the employer and the employee.  Proper evaluation of a test result in light of the employee's medical history, while protecting his or her privacy, is essential to avoid falsely accusing an employee of illicit drug use.  For this reason, business, industry and government agencies have seen the need for qualified Medical Review Officers to evaluate work-related drug tests, and to act as a consultant and resource in achieving a drug-free workplace.  Certification by the Medical Review Officer Certification Council (MROCC) is a mark of an MRO’s competency.
